World Food Day: Anambra Gov’s wife stresses nutrition
The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has emphasised the critical link between nutrition and health, describing good food as the foundation for a healthy and prosperous future.
Mrs Soludo, who is also the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, said this in Awka on Friday to mark the 2025 World Food Day, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.”
The World Food Day, observed every Oct. 17, promotes sustainable food systems and global efforts to end hunger. Good food is the bridge between good health and the future. The body reflects what it is fed. Healthy food choices promote sound living, while poor diets lead to poor health, Soludo said.
She stressed that food should not be viewed as a mere response to hunger but as a form of medicine, adding, “Good food is good life, and good life is a healthy future.”
Soludo said the Healthy Living Initiative’s first pillar, nutrition, had sparked a positive shift in dietary habits and food consumption patterns across Anambra communities. She reaffirmed the initiative’s commitment to advocating for safe, healthy, and secure food in homes and communities throughout the state.
Food is life. It feeds growth and development. As we celebrate World Food Day, let us reflect on how our choices can promote healthier diets. Let what you eat make the best difference, she said.
